On Wednesday, March 26th, all students at Wagon Mound Public Schools are scheduled to go through Active Shooter Training with POMS and Associates. This training will teach students to hide, fight or flee in the event of an active shooter incident. After the completion of the lecture portion of the training, we will have a practical training which will consist of simulated gun shots in and around the building. The purpose of this part of the training is so that students become aware of the sounds of an active shooter threat. At no time will the students be in actual danger. In addition, because of this training, there may be a large police presence at the school. Again, there is no danger, all first responder presence is part of the training.

The district understands that this type of training is scary and may trigger feelings of apprehension. Students have been given a letter indicating that if they do not want to participate in the training they will have to return a signed waiver. The district is encouraging as many students to participate as possible.

All students will be dismissed at 1pm on Wednesday so that staff can continue their training in the afternoon. Lunch will be served and busses will run. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school at 575-666-3030.
