Dear Families,

April is already here and we only have 7 more weeks of school. The school year has gone by very fast. I hope you all had a nice and restful spring break. We decided to cancel parent teacher   conferences due to scheduling conflicts. We sent home report cards with your student. If you feel you need to visit with the teachers, please feel free to contact the teacher and schedule an appointment.

The high school will celebrate prom on the 19th. Student Council has been busy planning, prepping, and getting ready to decorate. Any student grades 7th  through 12th are invited to attend. Out of district guests are allowed and must be cleared by the principal before the dance.

School pictures have been scheduled for Monday, the 22nd. Spring Picture Day Flyers will go out next week. If you visit the district website, you can order your school pictures online by clicking on the order link. Online ordering for Spring photos ends at 7am on the day of pictures! Click the link or use the QR code and it will take you directly to the online ordering page. You can also order online by going to www.mymjthomas.com  and enter our school event online code NM353. If you have any questions or concerns about pictures please call MJ Thomas Photo at 1-800-219-0199.

Students in grades 5, 8, and 11 will be taking the Assessment of Science Readiness this week. Students in grades 3 through 8 will be taking the NM-MSSA next week. Make-up tests will be given the 22nd through the 25th.  Please make sure your students are at school and get plenty of rest.   Seniors will take final exams the 29th through May 2nd.

Congratulations to our high school E-Sports Rocket League team: Josiah Vasquez, Dominic Jaramillo, Colton Garcia and Benito Armijo. They are District Champs and will be competing at state this week. EJ Armijo and Jericho Martinez also placed in the top 4 in district and will compete individually in NBA 2K. The elementary Pee-Wee teams are busy every weekend this month travelling and playing. They will host their own tournament here the 26th through the 28th. The high school track team has three meets this month preparing them to compete in district and at state. Good luck Trojans!

In celebration of Earth Day, students will be helping the village clean up around town. Clean-up day is scheduled for the 23rd from 9-11:45 in the morning. Students will be getting a t-shirt donated to them from Mora Soil and Conservation. Please make sure your student wears their shirt, comfortable shoes, a hat, light jacket and brings a bottle of water. This is a great community give back.

We have begun the budget process for the 24-25 school year and would like your input. Please join us in the Zack and Eloisa Montoya Administration Building board room at one of our upcoming budget discussions. They are scheduled for today at 4 pm and on the 18th at 3 pm if you would like to join us. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Ms. Taylor will be taking the 7th and 8th graders on a field trip to Storrie Lake on the 29th. The trip is sponsored by Wild Friends and the students will be observing birds and their habitats. They will have lunch by the lake and return before school ends.

 Sincerely,

Anita Romero
